Aarav Kumar Skips Bollywood, Chooses Fashion Over Films — Akshay Kumar Opens Up

Akshay Kumar has revealed that his son Aarav has no plans to join Bollywood. The actor shared this on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast Unplugged Shubhankar, which aired on April 18, 2026.

What Akshay Said

Akshay spoke warmly about Aarav’s choices. He said the two are very similar in nature — both health-focused and hardworking. But Aarav has chosen a completely different path.

Akshay said: “He doesn’t want to join films. He doesn’t have any such plan. He wants to be in fashion.”

He also shared a detail that surprised many listeners. Aarav is currently working a job that pays him just ₹4,500 a month. Akshay said: “Voh bechara aaj bhi ₹4,500 ki naukri kar raha hai. Acchi baat hai, kyun nahi?” (He is still working a ₹4,500 job even today. It’s a good thing, why not?)

Why Aarav Is Working at That Pay

This is not a financial necessity. Akshay explained that Aarav is learning fashion from the ground level. He is travelling to villages, studying different fabric prints, and understanding how fashion works at the source.

It is hands-on learning. Aarav is choosing experience over shortcuts.

Who Is Aarav Bhatia?

Aarav was born in 2002. He is the elder child of Akshay Kumar and author Twinkle Khanna. At 15, he moved abroad for studies. He is currently enrolled at a university in London.

Unlike many star kids, Aarav has always kept a very low profile. He is rarely seen at film events or on social media.

Akshay’s Parenting Style

Akshay also touched on how he guides his son. He said he does not lecture Aarav much. His one clear instruction: “I have told him not to harm anyone.”

That reflects a relaxed, trust-based approach. Akshay appears proud of his son’s independence, not disappointed by his choice to stay away from films.

What This Tells Us

Star kids choosing careers outside Bollywood is still rare enough to make news. Aarav’s story stands out because he is actively working a low-paying job by choice — to learn his craft properly.

Akshay Kumar’s tone throughout the podcast was positive and supportive. There was no pressure, no regret. Just a father talking about a son who knows what he wants.

Aarav Kumar is building his own path in fashion, one ₹4,500 job at a time.
