Yash on Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana VFX: Work in Progress, Will Better It

Actor Yash has finally reacted to the criticism around his upcoming film Ramayana. The film’s first teaser was released recently. It introduced Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. But fans were not happy. Many called the visual effects (VFX) “video-game like”. Now, Yash has responded. He called the film a “work-in-progress”. He promised the team will try to make it better.

High Hopes, Then Disappointment

The makers of Ramayana had announced big news earlier. They said DNEG would work on the film. DNEG is a British visual effects studio. It has won Academy Awards. It worked on famous films like InceptionInterstellarDune, and Tenet. Fans had huge expectations. They thought the VFX would be world-class.

But when the teaser came out, many were disappointed. The budget of Ramayana is reported to be Rs 4,000 crore. It is one of the most expensive Indian films ever. Yet fans called the visuals “subpar”. Some used harsher words like “AI slop” and “artificial looking”. The criticism spread quickly on social media.

Yash Speaks on Muse TV

Yash spoke about the criticism on Muse TV’s YouTube channel. He plays the role of Ravana in the film. The interviewer mentioned that the VFX looked photorealistic to him. Yash laughed and gave an honest reply.

He said, “That’s where I think DNEG comes in. Namit, who is my producing partner, comes in with that expertise.” He was referring to Namit Malhotra, the producer of Ramayana.

Then Yash added something important. He said the visuals are “still a work in progress”. He is sure the finished product will be “even more better”. He said the team is really aiming for a “topnotch” product.

A Decent Version Exists

The interviewer also asked if Yash had seen a final cut of Ramayana. Yash revealed he has seen a “decent version” of the film. But the work is not over yet.

“We’re on it, but till the last minute we’ll try to better it,” Yash said. He explained that they have seen a decent version. But they are still working. He called it exciting to put everything together. He said producers and actors make films for themselves too. They want to see their dream on the big screen.

Hrithik Roshan Also Spoke Up

After the VFX criticism became loud, another actor came forward. Hrithik Roshan posted a note on social media. He explained what bad VFX really means.

Hrithik wrote that bad VFX happens when a film promises “photorealism” but cannot fully achieve it. Even a small mistake in physics or gravity can destroy the illusion. He also said something fair. He said you cannot criticize a maker just because they chose one style. You might prefer another style. That is not fair criticism. Hrithik’s post was seen as support for the Ramayana team.

What is Ramayana About?

Ramayana is a mythological epic film. It is directed by Nitesh Tiwari. He made Dangal and Chhichhore. The film is produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash. Their companies are Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations.

The cast is very big. Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama. Sai Pallavi plays Sita. Yash plays Ravana. The film also stars Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, and Vivek Oberoi.

The film will be released in two parts. Part 1 is set to hit theatres on Diwali 2026. Part 2 will release on Diwali next year.

What Yash’s Words Mean for Fans

Yash’s reaction is honest. He did not defend bad work. He did not get angry at fans. Instead, he accepted the feedback. He called the film a work in progress. He promised to better it till the last minute.

This gives fans hope. The teaser is not the final product. The team is listening. They have months to improve the VFX. With DNEG’s expertise and Yash’s promise, fans are waiting to see the final result.
